Cassandra Coeur felt an affinity for the written arts early on with a love for reading and writing poetry. Originally, she pursued a Bachelor's degree in English from Western Michigan University in 2005 and took some creative writing classes on the way. So, Cassandra has been writing fiction for almost 20 year off and on. The Currently yet to be titled Work in Progress listed on the Novels page will be her first attempt at a published novel.
Cassandra also earned a BS in Accounting (2013) as well as an MBA in Sustainability and Social Change in 2015. She worked as an accountant in the education and non-profit world for about five years, but found it wasn't as fulfilling as writing. So, she embarked upon her full time writing career after much thought and budget mathematics in 2022.
As a transgender female and a lesbian, Cassandra is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. She strives to be inclusive in her writing by incorporating people of all colors, genders, and sexual orientations. Cassandra is also an unabashed progressive, and you will find progressive themes throughout her writing as well. She also suffers from lifelong depression and is a strong advocate for mental health awareness as well as the removal of stigma from mental health issues.
When not writing, Cassandra loves to read (of course!) fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and lesbian romance as well as play video games. She also dabbles in web design and web development (she claims she knows just enough to be dangerous). Finally, she also loves spending time with her son and wife in her home of Western Massachusetts.
The Fiction du Coeur brand name is a play on the French phrase du Jour and Cassandra Coeur's last name, Coeur, which means "heart" in French. So, Fiction du Coeur is both Fiction of the Day as well as Fiction from the Heart.
